How to Reset a Skoda Key
Just received a notification from my infotainment device to say that the battery in the key is low and must be replaced. It's not the first time, and last time I visited an auto dealer, they replaced it for free, took 2 minutes and told me it would work again.
Switch on the ignition and secure the vehicle mechanically. Press the unlock button five times at intervals of one second on the remote control. A short horn tone will play.
Method of EEPROM
If your car key stops working, it may take an extended time for a professional to reprogramme it. In many instances the EEPROM is scanned to determine the unique code of the car. This process is risky, and there's a high likelihood of damaging the information in the module. It is best to leave this to a skilled locksmith.
An EEPROM (non-volatile) memory is utilized in a broad variety of electronic devices, including car keys. It stores information, including the unique authentication codes or encryption keys that are recognised by your car when you use the key to unlock it or start it. These codes are essential because they inform your car that you are the owner of the key and that you have the right to drive.
If your EEPROM is damaged, the keys will stop working. The issue is usually caused by pressing the wrong key, or by hitting the wrong buttons. You may try to reset it by using a special tool however, this isn't certain to work. It is better to work with an expert who has years of experience in programming automotive keys.
To reset your EEPROM, you must remove the Kessy Module from the vehicle. This is the module over the accelerator pedal on the left side the car. Then you can access the EEPROM data using a SOIC8 clip or micro pincers connected to an electronic programmer. Ignition Method

This should still allow you to test a resync option in the user's manual - take off the driver's door lock cap and lock and then unlock the car with the key. It should re sync the key, if not, it's a trip to the dealers. This usually works on keys that are no longer working and takes less than two minutes.
Keyless Entry Method
The new generation of keyless entry systems - like the ones that are included in the latest OCTAVIA as well as electric ENYAQ iV vehicles - has an innovative security feature that blocks thieves from "signal extension". The car transmits an alarm and the key has to respond within a set time. If the key does not respond, the car cannot be locked. It will start to sound alarms.

Switch off the ignition and lock the vehicle from inside with another key that is not compatible (this resets the memory position 1). Enter channel "01" (may be channel "21" in some Audi models). Insert the new key fob into the door of the driver and then press the unlock button twice within 5 seconds (often enough to reach the next available memory position).
Repeat this process for up four additional remotes. Make sure to switch off the ignition between programming each remote. You should hear a tone each time you successfully program the remote.
